Registering on CommunityNet

You only need to register on the CommunityNet main site if you wish to:

• Request Help
• Offer Help
• Post Comments or Responses
• Contribute to the Wiki

The user name and password you use here on the Wiki and Main Site will not work on the CommunityNet Forum at this time.

To register on the site, you cannot already be logged in to the site. If the machine you’re on IS logged in to CommunityNet, then you will need to scroll down to the bottom of the left hand ‘bar’ of the screen and click the Log Out link.

Scroll down to the bottom of the left hand ‘bar’ of the screen. You will see a set of menu options like the one shown below.

Click on the ‘Register’ link and you will be presented with a web page that invites you to enter a user name and an email address. This page looks like the one shown below:

When you enter your email address, please check it carefully; this will be used to send your password, so if you get it wrong you will not receive a password. Please try and select a user name that you’ll be happy with; changing your user name after registration isn’t possible. After entering a user name and email address. click the Register button.

There aren’t too many errors that can occur; the two most common are to try using a name that someone else has already registered or trying to register with an email address that is already in use. These two error messages are both shown here. If you see either of these messages, then simply select a different user name and / or email address with which to register.

After you have entered your username and email address, you will receive an email from the site. Now, this mail should be delivered with 30 minutes, but the email server can sometimes be heavily loaded and take a while longer. If you don’t appear to have received a mail, check your spam bin.

The email will contain your password, and a link to the site where you can log on.
